Volume 6 Issue 2               Spring 2005                   Palo Alto Alumnae Chapter of Delta Gamma Newsletter

A message from our President

It was my honor to be elected last month as the new President of the Palo Alto Alumnae chapter. I graduated from San Diego State, ES in August of 2001. As a collegiate I was very involved in the chapter and held various offices, to include President. I joined the Palo Alto Alumnae chapter in the summer of 2002 and immediately took the position of Vice - President Programming and Young DG's. It has been a pleasure to work with such fun and dynamic group of women. I look forward to guiding the chapter into new and exciting waters in the next two years.

Roslyn Trevino, Epsilon Sigma - San Diego State

Foundation Update

We raised $1800 selling holiday cards on line and from a fundraiser at Armadillo Willy's. Distribution of funds will be explained in detail in the August newsletter.

Local Delta Gammas combined spent 329 hours on the 2004 Holiday party! This included bringing food, serving food, driving guests to and from the party, serving them, calling to invite them, planning, mailing invitations, paying bills, set up and clean up. Some of us also assisted with the holiday potluck party for the Silicon Valley Council of the Blind Club and the Diseases of the Eye Symposium. All of these do good hours were supervised by Lolly Osborne.

Thank you, Susan Mueller, for your timeless efforts for the Foundation. Susan is retiring from the position, so we are looking for a member who would like to take on the position and make it her own.

New Program - Golden Anchor

Sherry Herrgott has been working hard to put together this new program for our chapter, part of a new Delta Gamma "Do Good" program.

"The Golden Anchor Program volunteers seek to support, enjoy the company of and bring joy to Delta Gamma's elders and other senior citizens who reside in our community and/or care facilities throughout the United States and Canada."

Here are two Golden Anchor volunteer programs where you could help our seniors and visually impaired in our local community:

  1. Volunteer at The Forum...a senior community in Cupertino
  2. Help Your Buddy

Zeta Epsilon had an extremely successful recruitment in January, pledging 60 new members! A number of local alumnae helped during the three nights of recruitment. Zeta Epsilon Chapter website
